Jerome Hedler, 78, of Colfax passed away Sunday, October 17, 2010, at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire.
Jerome was born on February 18, 1932, in Thorp, WI to Leo and Mary (Tobola) Hedler. He served in the U. S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955 serving in England. He married Donna VanErt on October 8, 1955, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Stanley, WI. He was an owner/operator truck driver until his retirement. He was a member of the Colfax American Legion and former member of the Menomonie Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Hedler of Colfax; son, J. Jeffrey Hedler of Colfax; daughters: Donnelle (Joseph) Sperlazzo of Carol Stream, IL; Laurie Hedler of Minneapolis, MN and Cheryl Hedler of Wonewoc, WI; sisters: Janet (Brian) Soli of Stanley, WI, Mary Jane (Larry) Ciolkosz of Plymouth, WI and Joyce (Vern) Whirry of Eau Claire, WI; grandchildren: Lindsey and Brock Hedler and Joseph J. Sperlazzo; and one great-grandchild, Aidan Cederblad.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and sisters: Joan Miller and Jacqueline Solie.
A Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 20, 2010, at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church, Thorp, WI with Father Keith Apfelbeck officiating. Burial was at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Cemetery, Thorp.
Friends called from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Schriver Funeral Chapel, Bloomer and one hour before the Mass on Wednesday at the Church. There was a 7:30 p.m. Christian Wake Service at the Funeral Chapel on Tuesday.
