Humbird, Wisconsin (6 August 1959)
Mr. and Mrs. Martin Adler and family of Round Lake, Ill., visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herb Adler, a few days last week. They were on their way to visit her sister in Michigan and planned to stop in Spencer to visit her parents.
Mrs. Earl Ray of Hixton called in town Saturday afternoon pertaining to business for the late Mrs. Jake Zook.
Mr. and Mrs. Archie Fradenburg, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Peter Hemmy and Mahlon Lund, drove to Mondovi Tuesday to see the bean pickers’ work and the modern machinery in the canning factory.
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Chambers of Augusta visited Sunday with Mrs. Edith Smith and Mr. Chambers, and called on Mr. and Mrs. Peter Hemmy.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Lueth and family of Curtiss spent Sunday with his brother, Virgil Lueth.
Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Hein and Mrs. Cora Stanley drove to Black River Falls on business Friday.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Boullin of rural Fairchild called Sunday evening at the Newton home.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bemis of Neillsville were here Sunday to call on Mr. and Mrs. Earl Zimmerman and his mother, Mrs. Amelia Bemis.
Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Wallace of Beloit, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Wallace, Port Washington, and Mr. and Mrs. Wally Wallace of Neillsville called Saturday at the Danny Wallace and Earl Zimmerman home. In the evening the group and Mr. and Mrs. Danny Wallace attended a wedding dance for Roger and Linda Grottke of Neillsville at the Silver Dome.
A much-needed rain came Sunday night. Gardens, lawns and pastures were getting dry.
Angus Flood is deep in the potato digging industry and it is reported that the crop of early potatoes is pretty good. Potato digging reminds us, too, that fall is just around the corner.
Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Gearing of Alma Center and Mr. and Mrs. Hjelmer Gjerseth of Wrightsville were dinner guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Mahlon Lund.
