Boy Scout Troop (Camp Phillips - 1959)
"The boys always return from Camp Phillips looking 10 pounds heavier," said Mrs. Darwin Graves. Thirteen local boy scouts returned Saturday from the camp, Craig Graves and Dean Crissinger attending for the second straight year.
Two boys from Troop 43, sponsored by Calvary Lutheran Church, and 11 boys from Troop 64, sponsored by the Methodist and United Church of Christ, took part in the week’s outing.
Several earned merit badges in marksmanship, swimming and athletics.
The Neillsville Scouts were under the direction of Scoutmaster Jack Grether and Assistant Scoutmaster Lawrence McKevitt. Men furnishing cars for transportation to and from camp, in addition to Mr. McKevitt and Mr. Grether, were Scoutmaster Ervin Kroll of Troop 43, Ray Filitz and Don Gress.
