Smith, Gertrude (8 January 1898 - 11 August 1959)
Mrs. Gertrude Smith, 61, of Marshfield and formerly of Greenwood, died Tuesday morning at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, after a long illness.
The former Gertrude Acker, she was born on January 8, 1898, in Milwaukee. She was married to Mark Smith October 7, 1929, in Greenwood. They resided on a farm five miles northeast of Greenwood. He died in June 1955. Later she moved to Marshfield.
The survivors are: a daughter, Miss Shirley Smith of Marshfield; a son, Mitchell of Marshfield; a granddaughter, and three brothers, Edward Acker, St. Cloud, Minn., Paul Acker, Greenwood, and Kurt Acker, Olympia, Wash.
Funeral services were held at 1;30 p.m. from the Zion United Church of Christ in Greenwood. The Rev. Jack Grether of Neillsville officiated. Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Soloist was Miss Nettie Miller, with Mrs. Daniel Olson as accompanist.
Pallbearers were: Orval Radley, Albert Pogodzinski, Vern Severson, Earl Worden, Joseph Walter and John Paschke.
