Frank, J. H., Dr.#2 (4 OCT 1869 - 29 AUG 1956)
Funeral services for Dr. J. H. Frank, 86, veteran Neillsville physician and surgeon who died last Wednesday night at his home, 500 Clay St., following a year’s illness, was held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Rev. Alfred Schewe officiated. Burial followed in the Neillsville Cemetery.
Dr. Frank practiced until a year ago when illness forced his retirement. Several of his patients refused to accept the fact that he had retired and called at his home until just recently.
Dr. Frank was known to friends as a typical outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and remained an active trout fisherman until the age of 80. Dr. Frank for many years was a member of the American Medical Society.
He was born Oct. 4, 1869, at Jackson, and was educated at Watertown and Keokuk, Iowa, and was graduated from the Milwaukee County Physicians and Surgeons College (now Marquette University). He first practice in Watertown and also opened an office in Antigo, where he practiced for about a year before moving to Neillsville. His marriage to the former Bertha Sauter took place Dec. 22, 1898, at Watertown.
