Marek, Valencia (18 AUG 1956)
Valencia Marek, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Marek, and Edwin Kolodziej, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Kolodziej, were married in a double ring ceremony at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, Saturday, Aug. 18, 1956, at 10:00 a.m.
The Rev. Francis Piekarski read the nuptial mass and performed the ceremony, before an altar banked with gladioli and white chrysanthemums.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a chapel length gown of imported Chantilly lace over net and taffeta design. The gown was fitted with an elongated bodice, and iridescent outlined the scoop neckline, with long tapering sleeves. The voluminous skirt had tiny rows of tulle ruffles alternating with panels of lace over net and taffeta. She wore a demi pill box of lace etched in iridescents and pearls held the imported fingertip silk illusion veil. The bride carried a shower bouquet of white gladioli and pink baby roses with white streamers of stephanotis. She carried a bouquet of white carnations to the Altar of the Virgin Mary.
Her attendants were< Miss Evelyn Marek, 1st bridesmaid, Chicago, and Miss Frances Marek, 2nd bridesmaid, Thorp, both cousins of the bride. They both wore gowns of white lace over aqua mist net and taffeta styled chapel length, with fitted bodice, V neckline, and cap sleeves. The gowns had hip peplums of lace over full net skirts and taffeta. They had looped hair braid headbands in matching color. They carried colonial bouquets of pink carnations.
Roman Marek, brother of the bride, attended the groom as best man, and Norber Kolodziej, brother of the groom, acted as groomsman. Ushers were Sylvester Marek and Dennis Marek.
A breakfast was served for the releatives, and supper was held at St. Hedwig’s Hall at 6:00 p.m. for 250 guests, followed by a reception in the evening. Music was furnished by Bobby Storch Orchestra.
St. Hedwig’s choir sang, Al Ciolkosz, organist, Joseph Pabich, uncle of the bride, sang a solo, "Panis Angelicus" and Mrs. Leon Kaczmarek sang a solo, "Ave Maria."
The bride is employed as a secretary at Western Adjustment & Inspection Co., Eau Claire, and the groom at the Thorp Telephone Co.
A shower was given by Mrs. Walter Marek.
