Warren E.Davis, 85, Granton, died on Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010, at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Oct. 2, at the York center United Methodist Church. Rev. Michael Herdt officiated. Music was provided by Lori Rowe, organist. Interment was in the York Center Cemetery, with military honors accorded by the Neillsville Veterans Council.
Warren Eldon Davis was born on Dec. 10, 1924, in Granton, the son of Truman and Myrtie (nee Peaslee) Davis. He attended Romadka Grade School and Granton High School. From high school, he was drafted into the United States Army and served from 1944-46. He was a World War ll veteran stationed in Korea and the Philippines. He returned home from the war, ill with malaria. Eventually he recovered and he went to work for Weinbrenner’s Shoe Factory in Marshfield and worked there for more than 35 years before retiring. He was a member of the York Center United Methodist Church, Granton. He and his sister, Shirley, lived in the same house on County Road H since 1956, when they moved there, with their mother, from the farm on Romadka Avenue. He enjoyed fiddling with cars, when his mother would let him, and every Sunday you could find Warren and Shirley at the York Center United Methodist Church preparing for Sunday service and handing out bulletins.
Survivors include a brother, Marvin (Mable) Davis of Plato, Mo.; four sisters, Angeline (Robert) Schultz, Greenwood, Shirley Davis, Granton, Patricia (Bernard) Kitzhaber, Greenwood, and Ila Mae (William) Wolf, Nekoosa; and several nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents
