Ruth L. Young, 85, Loyal, died on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2010, at the Marshfield Care Center. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Oct. 20, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal. Rev. Dan Zimmerman officiated. Burial followed in the Loyal Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ed Bauer, Jon Bauer, Jim Young, Tim Froeba, George Stumpner and Shane Giacomino.
Ruth Lucille Haslow was born on Dec. 28, 1924, in Loyal, the daughter of Ed and Rella (nee Kline) Haslow. She was raised and received her education in the Loyal area, graduating from Loyal High School in 1942. She married Robert Young on Sept. 20, 1944, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal. They farmed in the town of Beaver for 30 years and moved into Loyal in 1977. She then worked as a cook for the Loyal Public Schools for a few years. Her husband, Bob, died on July 4, 2008. She continued to live in Loyal until the time of her death. She had many interests, but especially enjoyed bowling, baking, Playing cards and watching her beloved Milwaukee Brewers.
Survivors include one daughter, Joann (Hap) Weyer, Loyal; one son, Robert (Julie) Young, Madison; three grandsons, Dennis Weyer, Loyal, Duand (Diane) Weyer, Mosinee, and Todd (Christy) Weyer, Cross Plains; one step-grandson, Nick Zahn, Madison; two great-grandchildren, Samantha Giera and Brandon Weyer; a sister-in-law, Jeannine Young, Loyal; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; one sister, Mabel Haslow; and four brothers, Walter, Raymond, Harold and Donald Haslow.
