Elmhorst, Catherine Ann (Marriage - 5 September 1959)

The setting for the marriage Saturday of Miss Catherine Ann Elmhorst and Richard Winter was the Zion Lutheran Church in Granton. The Rev. Lawrence Schreiber performed the double ring ceremony before an altar graced with baskets of fall flowers.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Elmhorst and Mr. and Mrs. Arno Winter, all of Granton.

Mrs. Lawrence Schreiber played the wedding march and accompanied the Rev. Marvin Beninga of the American Lutheran Church as he sang, "The Wedding Prayer" and "the Lord’s Prayer."

Miss Elmhorst, given in marriage by her father, approached the altar in a floor-length gown styled with a full bouffant skirt of Chantilly lace over taffeta, with tiers of net ruffles down the back.  The fitted lace bodice was detailed with a scalloped neckline and long lace sleeves. A scalloped crown held her shoulder length veil, and she carried a bouquet of pink and white roses entwined with green.

Attendants were Mrs. Ronald Scharf as matron-of-honor and Mrs. Edwin Porath, bridesmaid. They wore waltz length dresses of green and yellow crystalette and carried bouquets of pink and white roses on white lace fans.

Barbara Elmhorst and Debra Porath were flower girls.

Donald Scharf was bestman and Neil Fero was groomsman. Ushers were Frederick Elmhorst, Jr., of Loyal, and Glen Raplinger of Marshfield.

One hundred fifty guests attended a reception held in the parish hall, which was decorated in yellow and white.

On their return from a wedding trip to the Black Hills, Mr. and Mrs. Winter will reside on Rt. 2, Granton, where the groom is engaged in farming.

People from away here for the wedding were: Mr. and Mrs. George Borchert, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Gluck, Marshfield; Albert Marg, and Ruth Winter, Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. George Kramer, Miss Lillian Barton, John Barton, Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Hampton, and Jim Hampton, all of Westchester, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Elmhorst, Herscher, Ill.
