Leichtnam, Ruth Bernice (Billman) (March 31, 1915 - October 8, 2010)

Ruth Bernice Leichtnam, 95, formerly of Abbotsford, passed away Friday, October 8, 2010, at Hilltop on Pepper Assisted Living in Wisconsin Rapids.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 11, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church in Abbotsford. Rev. Marcia Thomas will preside. Burial will be in the Abbotsford Municipal Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. Feldner-Ritchay Funeral Home of Nekoosa is assisting the family. The family will establish a memorial at a later date.

Ruth was born March 31, 1915 in Marshall County, Iowa to Walter and Edith (Lowry) Billman.

She moved with her family to Wisconsin in 1920. She married Arthur E. Leichtnam in Abbotsford on October 11, 1933. He died December 30, 1989. She was a homemaker and worked at various jobs, most notably as a cook for the Abbotsford School District and as a cheese cutter for Hawkeye Dairy, throughout her life.

She is survived by her youngest son, Bill (Nancy) Leichtnam of Nekoosa; daughter-in-law, Rosemary Leichtnam of Grand Blanc, Mich.; five grandchildren, Jane (Tim) Jones of Marble Falls, Texas, Ed (Dawn) Leichtnam of Gaylord, Mich., Margaret McLaughlin of Grand Blanc, Mich., Dan (Tammy) Leichtnam of Clarkston Mich., and Joanie (Gordon) John of Waterford, Mich.; 12 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Robert; an infant daughter, Patsy; five brothers and four sisters.
