GREENWOOD -- Anita D. Heck, 91, of Greenwood, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, at Harmony Commons, in Stevens Point, where she has resided since July 2010.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010, at Immanuel United Church of Christ, Greenwood. Rev. Mark Schwinn will officiate, and burial will follow in the Greenwood City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the church.

Anita Dorothy Hohl was born Dec. 28, 1918, in Greenwood, the daughter of Edwin and Katharine (Sonderegger) Hohl. She was raised on the family farm and received her education in the Greenwood area, graduating from Greenwood High School in 1936.

After high school, Anita moved to Milwaukee and worked as a nanny for a short time. She was united in marriage to Donald L. Miller on June 28, 1941, at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Greenwood. They farmed east of Greenwood and started a restaurant/bar business northwest of Greenwood.

In 1946, they purchased the Christie Store & Feed Mill and moved to Christie. Her husband, Don, died August 17, 1953. Anita continued to operate the store until 1956 and then moved back to Greenwood. She then worked as a bookkeeper for the Greenwood Co-op and then later for Harold Horn, at the Rootbeer Stand, for many years.

Anita remarried on July 18, 1968, to Harve Heck. She farmed with Harve until his death in September 1985. Anita stayed on the farm until moving back into Greenwood in 1988, where she lived until moving to Marshfield in June 2007.

She was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, its Ladies Guild and had served on the church board. Anita was also a member of the Canasta Club, Interfaith Caregivers, a Band Mother, and volunteered with the Blood Bank.

She had many interests, but especially loved spending time with her family and friends, traveling, photography, playing cards, music and dancing.

Anita will be dearly missed by her children, Sandra (Frank) Hoagland of Tucson, Ariz., Bruce (Wendy) Miller of Stevens Point; her grandchildren, Kip (DeDe) Hoagland, Trent Hoagland, Travis (Ruby) Hoagland, Kasey (Vanessa) Hoagland, Chad (Erin) Miller, Heidi (Cody) Boyce; 12 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lucille Hohl of Neillsville; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Don and Harve, and her brothers, Walter and Fritz Hohl.

Anita's family requests that memorials be directed to Immanuel United Church of Christ, in Greenwood.

Cuddie Funeral Home, of Greenwood, is assisting the family with arrangements.
