Spangler, Anton John (19 June 1894 - 14 October 1959)
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday from St. Anthony’s Catholic Church here for Anton John Spangler, 65, of Rt. 2, Loyal, who died October 14 at the Veterans Hospital at Wood. He had been in ill health for some time. The Rev. Norbert King, pastor, officiated, and burial was made in the parish cemetery.
The American Legion Post conducted military rites.
Mr. Spangler was born June 19, 1894, in the Town of York and received his education there. His entire life was spent on a farm in the Loyal area. His marriage to the former Eleanor Schwellenbach took place at Neillsville, June 4, 1925.
He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife, two daughters, Mrs. James (Dorothy) Pongratz of Nekoosa, and Marlene Spangler, at home; a grandchild: two sisters, Mrs. Anna Garbisch of Loyal and Mrs. Pauline Zink of Colby; two brothers, Joe of Neillsville and Frank of Cupertino, Calif.
