Humbird, Wisconsin (25 November 1959)

 

The chief topic of conversation: "Deer hunting."   Another near-man-less weekend as those who did not get their deer in northern Wisconsin are trying their luck here.  The man who brought home a bear from the north was Leo Janke, and he has now a deer to his credit.  Others who got deer: Orville Smith, Karl Johnson, Mike Flood, Art Zerbel and Gordon Gearing.

 

The American Legion auxiliary met Monday evening and plans were made for a Christmas party and dinner December 14, with dinner to be at noon, followed by a business meeting.

 

Mrs. Dewey Laing has been in Eau Claire the past week with her mother, Mrs. Carl Erickson, who suffered a stroke and is in Luther Hospital.  Little Craig has been with Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Duerkop.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Chester Baily left Wednesday for Modesto, Cal., where they will spend the winter.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Cullen Dignin returned Saturday from Gary, Ind., where they visited for two weeks.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Parks and two children of Marshfield were guests of her mother, Mrs. Edith Smith, Sunday.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Losey, Mrs. Henry Laffe and Mrs. Archie Kirby were in Fairchild Tuesday afternoon to attend funeral services for Tom Smith.

 

The ladies of the Methodist W. S. C. S. are holding a bazaar and turkey dinner Saturday, December 5.  The bazaar will open at 2:30, and they will serve from 5 o’clock until all are served.

 

Bill Moulster and son, Gary, of Milwaukee are visiting at the Gordon Gearing home and hunting.

 

Fred Krosinski of Milwaukee was an overnight guest Saturday at the J. Art Johnson home.
