Neillsville, Wisconsin Area (25 November 1959)

 

Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Short of the Town of Grant were supper guests Saturday evening of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Short.

 

Tom Overman and Dick Quast, students at River Falls State College will spend the Thanksgiving weekend at home.

 

Mona Hoesly and Michael Warlum, students at the University of Wisconsin, will arrive home Wednesday evening to spend the Thanksgiving weekend.

 

Miss Fannie Chase visited friends in Waupaca and Oshkosh last weekend.

 

Barbara Bollom, a student at La Cross State College, plans to spend the Thanksgiving vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ellsworth Bollom.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Prindle and children of Humbird will be guests Thanksgiving Day of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dahnert.

 

Kenneth and George Randall and the latter’s sons, Gene and Gary, of Fond du Lac are spending several days during the deer season at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dahnert. They brought eight friends with them from Fond du Lac.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Witke will be guests at dinner Thanksgiving Day of Mr. and Mrs. Asa Darling.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Drake of La Crosse visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Drake, last week. He teaches in De Soto.

 

Jack Eddy of Beloit is spending a 10-day vacation with Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Eddy.

 

Larry Ehlers of Dorchester and Jerry of Green Bay visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ehlers last weekend.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Darcey Gross and children of Milwaukee arrived Saturday for an overnight visit with her mother, Mrs. Viola Shaw.  They returned Sunday, accompanied by Mrs. Shaw, who will spend the winter there.  Mr. and Mrs. Donald Shaw and daughter moved Friday into the house on Hewett Street she vacated.  Mrs. Shaw was an operator in the local telephone exchange prior to installation of the dial system. 

 

Tom Meier, student in Stevens Point, spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Meier.

 

Miss Mae Towers of Marshfield was a weekend guest of Mrs. Helen Smith.

 

Mr. and Mrs. William Kopp of Cambridge spent the first few days of the hunting season with Mr. and Mrs. Willis Volz and family.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Nelich and daughter, Eureka, S. D., have returned home after spending several days with her sister, Mrs. Jess Tomlinson and family of Greenwood, and with her brother, Hugh Howard and family.

 

Weekend visitors at the Bob Shaw home were Mrs. Shaw’s brother, Clarence Hagedorn and his family; and Dick and Dean Caves, all of Fond du Lac.  Dave Caves of Minneapolis, Minn., was a Saturday overnight visitor with his brothers at the Shaw home. 

 

George Shaw and Ben Grottke were two of the lucky ones to get their deer the first day.

 

Hugh Howard has received word that his brother, John Howard, has returned to El Monte, Cal., after spending three weeks in a hospital, where he underwent brain surgery. This operation was necessitated when he was injured in a fall while doing construction work.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Vandeberg and son of Neenah were Saturday supper guests at the home of his brother, Russel Vandeberg and family and spent a few days with his mother, Mrs. Fern Vandeberg, in York.  Harold spent part of the time hunting.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Dux and family of Stoughton were weekend guests of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Dux.

 

George Nauertz of Altoona called Saturday at the Alice Nauertz home and hunted with his nephew in the Washburn area.

 

Elmer Keller spent a few days last week with his sister in Alma.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Quinnell of Spooner arrived Tuesday to spend Thanksgiving Day with his mother, Mrs. Herbert Quinnell, Sr., at the home of his sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Crothers.
