Windom, Oliver (19 September 1893 - 17 December 1959)

 

Oliver Windom, 66, died suddenly of a heart attack last Wednesday morning at his home in Greenwood.  Mr. Windom, son of the late Thron and Randi (Halverson) Windom, was born September 19, 1893, at North Bend.  He came to Greenwood with his parents from South Dagota (Dakota) about 36 years ago.  He engaged in farming until 4 ½ years ago, when he retired and moved into the city of Greenwood.  He never married.

 

Surviving are four sisters, Nelda and Helen Windom, at home; Mrs. Ivan (Mary) Hemminger of Holcombe, Mrs. Hans (Tena) Windom of Elbow Lake, Minn.; five brothers, Theodore, Hans, Sendo, Elmer and Otto Windom, all at home, and 19 nieces and nephews.

 

Military services were held Friday afternoon from Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.  The Rev. Ira Tanner officiated.  The Wallis-Hinker Legion Post, No. 238, participated at the graveside.  Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers were: George and John Speich, Gerald Steffen, Clarence Markee, Otto Voie and Lloyd Longridge.

 

Mrs. Otto Voie and Mrs. Godfrey Dyre sang, "God Will Take Care of You," and "Abide with Me," accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Don Warner.
