Matuszak, Joan Marie (Marriage - 26 December 1959)

Saturday morning wedding vows were exchanged by Miss Joan Marie Matuszak and Rodger Robert Staffon in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville.  The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. Fr. Joseph Eisenmann before an altar decorated with poinsettia plants. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Matuszak, Rt. 1, Neillsville and he is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Staffon of Alma Center.

As Mr. Matuszak gave his daughter in marriage the children’s choir of the church provided wedding music.

For her wedding the bride wore a dress of whie satin with a full bouffant skirt. The fitted lace bodice was fashioned with long sleeves and a Sabrina neckline.  The skirt ended in an illusion lace train.

The bride carried a whie prayer book topped with a spray of baby red roses and drop streamers entwined with red roses.

Miss Rogene Greunke of Neillsville was her maid-of-honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Jean Larson of Tomah and Miss Gloria Olson of Wisconsin Rapids. They wore gowns of red velvet with fitted bodices and red chiffon cummerbunds, White fur with red carnation trim made the headpieces and they carried muffs with sprays of red carnations and holly.

Debbie and Bobbie Sheffer were flower girl and ringbearer.

The groom was attended by Robert Matuszak as best man, and groomsmen were David Larson of Tomah and John Matuszak of Milwaukee.  Larry Thayer and Bernard Van Horn of Alma Center ushered.

A wedding breakfast was served at the home of the bride’s parents.  The reception and buffet supper and dance was held at the Inwood Ballroom, Hatfield.

The bride is a graduate of Neillsville High School and is attending Wood County Teachers College at Wisconsin Rapids.  Mr. Staffon was graduated from the Alma Center High School and owns and operates the Alma Center Locker Plant.

On their return from a wedding trip through southern Wisconsin they will make their home in Alma Center.
