Harper, William M. #2 (17 AUG 1896 - 6 JAN 1957)
Funeral services were conducted by Major Sherman A. Deskin at Lanmiak Chapel at Eau Claire on Jan. 9, 1957 at 1 p.m. for Wm. Harper of Eau Claire, who passed away on Sunday, Jan. 6th, 1957 at the Sacred Heart Hospital. He had reached the age of 60 years, 5 months and 6 days.
Mr. Harper was born at Brestle, Iowa in Worth County on August 17, 1896 and lived there and then at Muscoda, Wis., until 1902 when he moved to Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.). He joined the National Guard 32nd Division at Stanley and served his country from 1917 to 1919 in World War I in France in Co. G 110 Inf. A.E.F. and received his discharge on May 24, 1919.
On April 20, 1920 at Thorp, he was united in marriage to Martha Sachs. In 1929 they moved to Eau Claire where he was employed at the U.S. Rubber Co.
Surviving relatives are his wife Martha Harper, one son William Jr. and one daughter, Lavina, all of Eau Claire, one brother, Turon Harper of Eau Claire, and two sisters, Mrs. Walter Bohn and Mrs. Lewis J. Pagel of Thorp.
Serving as pallbearers were: Turon Harper Jr., Donald Ramberg, Theron Pagel, Fred Pagel, Louis Pagel Jr. and John Pagel.
Interment followed the Chapel services at the Sylvan Cemetery in the town of Reseburg where military rites were conducted by Cecil Tormey Post No. 118, American Legion of Thorp, with the salute by the firing squad and taps.
