Jacobson, Merlin R. (11 FEB 1929 - 17 NOV 2010)
PITTSVILLE -- Merlin R. Jacobson, 81, of N514 County Road Z, Pittsville, died early Wednesday morning, Nov. 17, 2010, at his residence.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 22, 2010, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. The Rev. John Grohs will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Merlin was born Feb. 11, 1929, to Frances and Leta (Lawrence) Jacobson, in the town of Sherwood in Clark County. He married Shirley Kuehl on July 30, 1949, in Pittsville.
He began working for Consolidated Paper Inc.-Biron Division as a lab technician from 1948 until 1960, where he then became the owner/operator of Jacobson Painting and Asphalt Maintenance until 1990.
Merlin enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking in his free time.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Merlin is survived by his wife, Shirley; children, Ronald (Linda) of San Diego, Calif., Randall (Sherri) of Church Hill, Tenn., and Rick (Pam) Jacobson of Rockford, Ill.; son-in-law, Wayne Petruska of Wisconsin Rapids; grandchildren, Greg (Kelly), Kristen (Anastash), Jennifer (Casey), Adam, Jerry (Krystal), Eric, Josephine (Randy), Gwen (Jim), Stephanie and Nicole; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Beverly (Dennis) Bodem and Annette Snedaker.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Michelle; in-laws, George and Theresa Kuehl; and brother-in-law, Jack Snedaker.
Friends may call at Taylor, Vollert and Jennings Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday; and again at the church Monday from 10 a.m. until time of services.
