Erickson, Florence (30 March 1895 - 31 January 1960)

 

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday by the Rev. Robert Eisler and the Eastern Star from the First Methodist Church in Merrillan for Mrs. Eric (Florence) Erickson, 64, of Merrillan, who died Sunday in Neillsville.  Burial was made in Oakwood Cemetery, Merrillan.

 

Mrs. Erickson, the former Florence Stam, was born March 30, 1895, in Columbus. In 1910 the family moved to Merrillan and Mrs. Erickson received her education in Jackson County.  She was active in Church, lodge and civic affairs.  On October 31, 1914, she was married to Eric Erickson at Merrillan, who died in 1947.

 

For the last 10 years Mrs. Erickson cooked for the lunch program in the Merrillan School, and during the summer cooked at Camp Wabeek at Wisconsin Dells.  The Erickson family operated the Merrillan hardware store for many years.

 

She was a member of the Methodist Church, its Women’s Society of Christian Service, Eastern Star and R. N. A. Lodges of Merrillan. 

 

She is survived by seven children: Mrs. Arthur (Marian) Epding, Wausau; Mrs. Virginia Vasco, Lakewood, Cal.; Mrs. Lester (Josephine) Kruppa, New York City; Mrs. Don (Jeanne) Ula, Menasha; Mrs. Arnold (Viva) Meissner, Melrose; Mrs. Harry (Doreen) Demaske, Merrillan; and Eric Ross Erickson, Merrillan.  Four sisters; Mrs. Mildred Olson and Mrs. Dorothy Stolk, both of Merrillan, and Mrs. Margaret Bechtel, Milwaukee , and a brother, John Stam, of Milwaukee; also surviving are 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

 

The Georgas Funeral Home of Neillsville made funeral arrangements.
