Callies, Herman (23 FEB 1899 - 27 JAN 1957)
Herman C. A. Callies, a resident of the Town of Worden, R.F.D., Stanley (Clark Co., Wis.), passed away at Victory Memorial Hospital Sunday after a lingering illness.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Epiphany Lutheran Church, Stanley with Rev. R. W. Olson officiating. Interment was in the Oakland Cemetery.
Mr. Callies was born Feb. 23, 1899, in Swift County, Minn., the son of Albert and Minnie Callies. He lived in Minnesota until 12 years of age, when the family moved to Anamoose, N.D. In 1920 they came to Worden country where he had since resided, farming most of his life. He also operated a store in Worden for four years.
Surviving are three brothers, Otto, Albert Lea, Minn.; Emil and Paul, Anamoose, N.D.; four sisters, Mrs. Henry (Ida) Mathiesen, Marshfield; Mrs. Albert (Hattie) Sauter, Thief River Falls, Minn.; Mrs. Oscar (Gertrude) Paap, Eau Claire, and Mrs. Marvin (Margaret) Blenza, Grasse Ile, Mich. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
