Gloff, Karoline (16 November 1871 - 21 February 1960)

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon for Mrs. Emil (Karoline) Gloff, 88, of Neillsville, who died Sunday in Milwaukee. The Rev. Norman Lindloff officiated at services from St. John’s Lutheran Church, and burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Mrs. Gloff, the former Karoline Fritz, was born November 16, 1871, in Poland.  On May 26, 1892, she was married there to Emil Gloff and in 1894 they came to the United States and located in West Virginia, where they resided until 1900.

At that time they moved to Clark County to a farm in the Town of Levis. They sold their farm in 1911 and moved into Neillsville and in 1912 they went to Canada, and returned again to Neillsville in 1913.  Due to failing health, she went to Milwaukee two years ago to make her home with her children.  Her husband died in 1937.

She is survived by seven children: Karl, Milwaukee; John, Neillsville; Daniel, Hot Springs, Ark.; Mrs. Louis (Anna) Searles, West Allis; Herman, Elmhurst, Ill.; Mrs. August (Hilda) Hirsch, Chicago; and Mrs. Bertha Brueggemann, Appleton.  A sister, Mrs. Ottilie Stelter of Neillsville, 37 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren also survive.

Mrs. Gloff was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Funeral services were held February 24 for Mrs. Emil (Karoline) Gloff, 88, from St. John’s Lutheran Church. The Rev. Norman Lindloff officiated and burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Ray Kutsche, Emil Wesenberg, Arthur Ackerman, Fred Dux, Herman Hagedorn, and Frank Zickert.

"For Me to Live in Jesus" and "A Pilgrim and A Stranger" were sung by Robert Mitte, accompanied by Victor Lehman.

Gloff, Mrs., Anna Searles, Fred Searles, and Mrs. Ray Doss, Milwaukee; Mrs. Bertha Brueggemann, Linda, John and Richard, Appleton; Mr. and Mrs. Quenton Quist, and Arthur Elenbaas, McBain, Mich.; Raymond Elenbaas, Grandville, Mich.; Marvin Elenbaas, Grand Rapids, Mich.; Wilbur Elenbaas, Cadillac, Mich.; Herman Gloff, Elmhurst, Ill.; and Mrs. August Hirsch, Chicago, Ill.

Funeral arrangements were made by the Georgas Funeral Home.
