Sorenson, Hendrick (11 April 1886 - 18 February 1960)
Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon from the Emmanuel Church at Longwood for Hendrick Sorenson, 73, who died suddenly at the Richard Bowen residence in Curtiss February 18.
The Rev. I. J. Tanner officiated, and military rites were conducted at the church cemetery. During the service Bernice Kraut sang, "Beyond the Sunset" and "Heaven is My Home." She was accompanied by Mrs. Jane Morochek on the piano.
Mr. Sorenson, the son of Martin and Hannah (Bredeson) Sorenson, was born April 11, 1886, in Curtiss. In his early years he was a logger, working in the Ladysmith area. Later he followed a barber’s trade in Fargo, N. D.
He enlisted in the army and served overseas in World War I. He enlisted again in 1919, serving in the United States and overseas, and was discharged in 1948 at Fort Knox, Ky. Since that time he had made his home in the Owen area. He never married.
Pallbearers were: James Peterson, Arthur Himes, William Kolpanen, Vandy Hautamaki, Viano Talso and William Kangas. Flowers were carried by Mrs. James Peterson, Mrs. Arthur Himes and Mrs. William Kolpanen.
Surviving are two brothers, Olaf of Milwaukee, and Emil of Longwood; and a sister, who lives in California.
