Carlberg, Richard H. (10 DEC 1929 - 19 NOV 2010)

 

GREENWOOD -- Richard H. Carlberg Sr., 80, of Greenwood, passed away Nov. 19, 2010.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 26, 2010, at Grace United Methodist in Greenwood with Pastor Lee.

Richard was born Dec. 10, 1929, in Gary, Ind., to Aaron and Jessie (Edwards) Carlberg. He was raised in Gary and Porter County, Ind. He graduated from Emerson High School, in Gary, Ind., in December 1947.

He married Irene Westbay on Sept. 11, 1948, at Salem Methodist Church in Hebron, Ind.

Richard was employed by National Tube Works, a division of U.S. Steel, for 241/2 years. He was an industrial engineer and foreman. He sang for U.S. Steel Chorus for many years. He retired to Wisconsin and purchased and ran his in-laws' farm north of Greenwood.

His interests include singing for Clark County Male Chorus, accounting, treasurer for Grace United Methodist Church, crossword puzzles and his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Irene, children, Richard H. (Sally) Carlberg Jr., Anna Rueth (Tom), Aaron (Sue) Carlberg, Dorothy Roback and Debra (Brad) Rowe; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, John, and sister, Barbara.
