Fredrickson, Herbert #5 (24 FEB 1915 - 7 MAR 1957)

Herbert Fredrickson, 42, Curtiss (Clark Co., Wis.), died at Marshfield Thursday morning of injuries received when his car smashed into another at Owen last Wednesday afternoon.  It was Clark County’s first traffic fatality of the year.

Fredrickson, a field man for the Owen Dairy Co., was headed east out of Owen on Hwy. 29 at about 2 p.m. when his car smashed into a westbound car driven by Adolph Violetta, 48, Negaunee, Mich.

The collision occurred on a curve just outside the city limits.  The Fredrickson car was reportedly in the left lane at the point of impact.

Injured in the Michigan car was Violetta’s wife, Fannie, 47, who was taken to Rochester for surgery.  She was treated at the Owen Clinic for face lacerations and a hip injury, and then taken on to Rochester.  Her husband escaped with minor injuries.

Funeral services for Fredrickson were held Saturday afternoon at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Owen.  Burial was in Stanley.

Mr. Fredrickson was born in Brown County, Feb. 24, 1915.  A cheesemaker, he lived in Clark and Wood Counties before moving to Curtiss a year ago and was employed by the Owen Dairy Co.  He married Evelyn Nerdrum Aug. 27, 1946, at Stanley.

Besides his wife, he leaves two stepsons, Robert and Gerald, and a daughter, Joan, all at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Fredrickson, Pewaukee; and two sisters, Mrs. Delmar (Marie) Brodhagen and Mrs. Donald (Bernice) Brumbaugh, both of Marshfield.
