Town meeting day is approaching.
Mike Denny broke camp on Monday.
The breakup came sudden and, evidently to stay.
Cline Cradle, of Eidsvold, was a visitor here on Tuesday.
W. E. Poppe and family were visitors from Withee on Thursday last.
Fred Rabanstorf of Stanley was a welcome visitor here on Friday, last.
A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. B. E. Shilts on Thursday, March 1st.
Geo. H. and C . S. Lusk spent Sunday last with their parents at Fond du Lac.
Ben Bruno broke camp on Monday with about 1,000 logs still on the skids in the woods.

The M. E. Church choir assisted by others gave a concert at Gerbing’s hall on Saturday evening last.
Mr. and Mrs. Hipke of Medford, has been spending the past week here, visiting with Mrs. Chas. Cordes and family.
M. S. McKee representing the Smith Bros. Crockery Co., of Eau Claire, spent Sunday last at home here.
The young ladies of Mrs. Groher’s Sunday school class will give an ice cream social at her residence, March 10th. All are invited to come.
The name of Hon. M. C. Ring, of Neillsville, is being mentioned in connection with the Republican nomination for congress from this district.
Rev. A. Baeder, of the Reformed church, will preach his last sermon at the Baptist church on Sunday next as he is about to move to Wabasha, Minn.
A dance will be held at Gerbing’s hall on Saturday evening March 10. H. J. Fessenden and son Ed. will furnish the music. Everybody cordially invited. Tickets 50 cents
The COURIER was mistaken in stating that the child born to Mr. and Mrs. Peter McFarland on the 18 ult was a daughter. It was a son instead and Pete wants it so understood.
T. J. St. Louis, who has been employed at J. W. Cirkel & Sons factory here for several months, went to Sherry last week to set up some machinery in a new factory at that place.
Wm. Lange will in a few days remove his cigar shop to the building west of H. Banderob’s harness shop.
The warm weather the past few days has caused all the snow and ice to disappear. Indications seem to point to an early spring.
Mrs. Geo. H. Eaton and Mrs. H. E. Lytle were taken sick with diphtheria last week and have been in a dangerous condition since. They are at the Eaton residence at Eidsvold.
There will be no preaching at the Methodist church next Sunday. Rev. J. B. Bachman will hold the Quarterly meeting at Colby on that day for the presiding elder, Rev. A. J. Davis.
Mrs. M. O. Olson and children arrived here from Foley, Minn., on Saturday last. Mr. Olson has rented the house now occupied by Mrs. L. Cordes into which he expects to move next week.
The COURIER is in receipt of a neat little pencil holder made of Aluminum, from the Michigan Stove Co. of Chicago, who by the way are the largest makers of stoves and ranges in the world.
Louis Wiesner & Co. will receive a pure French imported Stallion and a car load of breeding mares next week. Call at Walsdorf’s barn and inspect the animals if in need of first class horses. Single service of Stallion $10.
Jule Thibert has been getting out a large number of heavy cedar poles for the electric light company of Eau Claire. This timber grows in abundance in the western part of Taylor County and easily gotten to this station on winter roads.
Another lord mayor was in the city yesterday, Luke McGuire, the genial proprietor of the celebrated Forest Queen at Thorp. He is alive and hearty and the Leader will never report him dead again unless we have it from his own lips. Eau Claire Leader
The school board at a meeting held last week, decided that all children attending school must be vaccinated before the beginning of the summer term. This will give all an opportunity to be vaccinated during the usual two weeks vacation and obviate the necessity of closing the schools.
The Village board met in regular session on Monday evening and passed a resolution calling a special election for the purpose of issuing bonds for putting in a systen (system) of water works. The election will be held on Saturday, March 31st. The great necessity for taking this step is apparent to nearly all property owners and should carry py (by) a decisive majority.
Dr. McKittrick made a trip to Withee on Tuesday, vaccinating about forty persons while there.

M. E. Bradford who visited friends in this village the fore part of the week has been appointed a teacher at one of the Indian agencies of S. Dakota. He has held positions as principal in some of the best graded schools in the southern part of this state.
