Herman William Stange, 88, died in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 23. He had been taken to the hospital two weeks ago following a stroke.
Funeral services were held from Trinity Lutheran Church at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. Burial was made in the Lutheran Cemetery. The Rev. Virgil Ganz officiated.
Herman Stange was born at Iron Ridge, Dodge County, on February 14, 1872. He came with his parents when he was two years old to the farm 2 ¼ miles north of Loyal, where he had since resided. This farm was his father’s homestead.
On September 19, 1899, he was married to Bertha Neuman at Trinity Lutheran Church. Mrs. Stange died December 16, 1959.
Mr. Stange served on the Sunny Knoll School board from 1908 to 1925, and was supervisor of the Town of Beaver for 20 years.
He is survived by four sons: Jerome, at home; Herbert, Milwaukee; Allis, Athens; and Albert, Wausau. Also surviving are a daughter, Marie, at home; four grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Louie Stange of Loyal and Otto Stange of Greenwood.
