Root, Frank (? - 13 May 1960)

 

Frank Root, 74, who spent his boyhood and early manhood in the Town of Grant on the farm now owned and occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schlegelmilch, was buried in the Neillsville City Cemetery Monday afternoon, with the Rev. Joseph Eisenmann officiating.

 

Mr. Root was married in 1912 to Celia Hubing, a sister of Arthur, Henry, Charles, and George Hubing of Neillsville.  He worked for several years in the old Pleasant Ridge Creamery, a mile south of the Reed School, and later moved to Rudolph, where he operated a cooperative cheese factory.  Later he purchased a cheese factory at Knowlton, which he managed for several years.

 

He died Friday, May 13, at Knowlton, where a funeral service was held Monday morning.

 

Attending the services were his widow, Mrs. Frank Root; his daughters, Mrs. Warren Cates and family of Knowlton, and Mrs. Marie Mac Fadden of California; Mrs. Root’s sisters, Mrs. Clara Coppins of Fort Atkinson and Mrs. Herbert Halstead of West Union, Ia., her brothers, Arthur, Henry, Charles and George Hubing, with their families.

 

Others attending included Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Clinton of Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Leo Root of St. Paul; Mrs. Larry Babka of Black River Falls; Mrs. Robert Jacob and her family of Weston; Mrs. Ruth Dern and Luann Hubing of Neillsville; and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Truax of Mosinee.
