Granton, Wisconsin Schools (26 May 1960)

Changes in teaching personnel at Granton High School include Mrs. Chloe Schiller of Marshfield, replacing Mrs. Alan (Janice) Voigt of Washburn, and the retirement of Mrs. William (Olivia) Ruchaber as English teacher.

Mrs. Ruchaber, (the former Olivia Morse) has now completed 24 years of teaching following her graduation from Ripon College in 1920.  She taught a year at Mellen, two years in Neillsville, and three years in Medford.

With the shortage of teachers in World War II, she promised to teach one week at Fairchild in 1943 and remained three years.  For the last 15 years she has taught English, library and forensic work in Granton.

She plans to attend a Class of 1920 reunion at Ripon College June 3-4 and will spend some time with her college roommate, Mrs. Harvey Lamkin (the former Marjory Tibbals) now of Toledo, O.

Mrs. Ruchaber was honored at Awards day last week, when Dale Teter, president of the sophomore class, which she has served as advisor, presented her with a gift.

In reminiscing of her teaching experience to a Press representative Friday, Mrs. Ruchaber said: "I think the highlight of my teaching came when Wayne Gardner, a Granton English student, won the national essay award in 1959."
