Eidsvold Epitome (15 March 1894)

Dr. Hurd of Eau Claire consulted with Dr. Selden on the Eaton and Lytle diphtheria cases last week.

Miss Josie Ross closed her school at Rogers Creek last week.

Miss Alice Baker closed her school in the Warden district this week.

A farewell dance at the residence of C. Cradle one evening last was well attended.

A Notary’s office has been opened at this place.  W. S. Parks is the "Notorious Republican" in charge.

Elijah Warner and Cline Cradle moved their household goods to Meehan last week where they will engage in the farming business.  Mr. Warner’s family went on Monday.

James and Thomas Clark and several others have returned from the woods and are spending their vacation in this burg.

R. Cornwell and Willie Warner and ladies went to Longwood and took in the dance there last Saturday.

Local politics are again the principal subject of all conversation. Among the parties mentioned for town offices are the following: Chm. Wm. Jerard; supervisors, Z. Worden, R. Cornwell, R. Warden, F. Dietrich; clerk, Ara Warner, W. S. Parks, and Bill (blurred out); treasurer, S. S. Warner; assessors M. McCaffery, A. Soderberg.

Elmer Warner has moved from his farm north of here on to the C. F. Stone place.  Matt. Story has moved from the Parks residence into Mrs. Cradle’s house; W. E. Powell has moved from his residence into the Parks building, where he will open a barber shop and confection store.  Joe Powell has moved from the Boardman building into Elisha Warners house.  Geo. Eaton has traded his farm to Nye, Lusk & Hudson for the Boardman property and will occupy the same as soon as the health of his family will permit.

The Eidsvold Dramatic Club rendered the play "Down by the Sea", at the Eidsvold School house, Tuesday evening, March 6^th.  The doors were opened at 7 and by 8 standing room were at a premium.  Elated with their success at home, the club went to Stanley, Saturday evening, March 10 where they played to a large and appreciative audience.  After the entertainment at the latter place the floor was cleared for dancing and general good time enjoyed by all.  We understand that the club will be permanently organized and that some good dramatic and literary work may be looked for in the future.
