Koontz, Marilyn D. (5 AUG 1934 - 26 NOV 2010)

 

ABBOTSFORD -- Marilyn D. Koontz, 76, was born into eternal life Friday, Nov. 26, 2010, at Golden Living Center-Continental Manor in Abbotsford, following a courageous battle with MS.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010, at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford. The Rev Jerome Freimuth will officiate. A time of visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to service time on Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment of Ashes will be held at a later date at the Mount Olive Cemetery in Westboro.

 

Marilyn was born Aug. 5, 1934, to Alfred and Selma (Berndt) Marohl. She graduated from Horicon High School in 1952.

 

Marilyn was married to Richard Nelson, and the couple later divorced.

 

On Nov. 12, 1965, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Burnett, Marilyn was united in marriage to Gerald G. Koontz. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and caring grandmother.

 

Marilyn was employed at Montgomery Ward and Green Giant while in Beaver Dam and worked at Sears and Marathon Cheese in Medford.

 

Marilyn cherished the time she could spend with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting and gardening.

 

Mrs. Koontz was a member of St Peter Lutheran Church in Dorchester.

 

Marilyn is lovingly survived by her mother, Selma Marohl of Burnett; her children, Sharon (Gary) Schmidt of Burnett, Bob (Tammy) Koontz of Medford, Jim Koontz of Rothschild, Rick (Kelly) Nelson of Denver, Colo. and Kevin (Lorie) Koontz of Crestview, Fla; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one brother, Marvin (Lucille) Marohl of Burnett.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Koontz, on Nov. 9, 2008.

 

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Marilyn's name at a later date.
