B. Plecity was up from Eau Claire on Monday.

Another snow storm was experienced on Monday.

C. R. Keil, the watchmaker, has gone out of business.

J. H. Sargent was down from Stanley on Thursday last.

C. W. Funk, of Withee, was a visitor here one day last week.

Martin Neilsen was in town a few hours on Wednesday of last week.

Steps are being taken by local Masons for the formation of a lodge here.

Chas MacKross and Sam Christianson were up from Stanley on Sunday last week.

Thos. Crowley went to Clifford last week where he has secured a position in a saw mill.

Mrs. Condon now occupies her new residence built on the site of the one recently destroyed.

The latest styles in Ladies fine foot wear, just received by The Thorp Mercantile Co.

Dr. C. von Neuport Jr. and wife of Stevens Point spent Sunday last with the Courier family in this village.

The vaccination order has been generally complied with during the past two weeks and sore arms are numerous among the school children.

Webster & Heagle will give a free dance at Gerbing’s Hall Saturday evening April 14^th.  Music will be furnished by Germania Orchestra.  Everybody is cordially invited.

The smoke stacks at Nye, Lusk & Hudson’s mill and J. W. Cirkel & Sons stave factory are being supplied with spark catchers this week, a very necessary improvement by the way.

There will be a sociable at the residence of Mrs. Briggs, Thursday, April 12^th.  An invitation is extended to all.  Syrup and ice cream will be served.  Mrs. Minard, Sec.

Henry N. Copp, the well known land lawyer, of Washington, D. C. has issued a new edition of his popular Guide for homestead and other settlers on the public domain.  The price is 25 cents.

The marriage of Wm. Lamar and Miss Augusta Pribbenow took place at the residence of the bride’s parents in the Town of Withee on the 4^th inst., Justice of the Peace Geo. Burke officiating.

Sweetie, the oldest daughter of Mrs. J. S. Boardman, was taken ill on Thursday last, her ailment being pronounced scarlet fever the following day, in consequence of which the school board deemed it best not to open school on Monday but give the children another week’s vacation.

A communication from the state board of health shows that since the 20^th of January there have been twenty seven cases of small pox and eight deaths in Wisconsin.  The disease has appeared in sixteen communities.  In the opinion of the board that death reported as the result of vaccination in Oshkosh, was really due to exposure and want of proper care.

Landlord Begley of Greenwood was in Marshfield a few hours on last Thursday and had much to say of the bright future before his town.  He says that it is now an assured fact that the St. Paul road will this year extend its line from Lynn to Greenwood and he also thinks that the Central will finish the cut-off to Bateman this season.  Mr. Begley is now arranging to build an Opera House at Greenwood and is going to be in the front row when the boom comes. - Marshfield News

Arrangements area being made for the establishment of a post office at Zimmer’s corners, five miles southeast of this place.  The new office will accommodate quite a population.  H. Holzhausen, who is building a store building, at that point, will probably be named as postmaster.

I. O. O. F. Anniversary Celebration at Stevens Point, Wis. April 26^th, 1894.

For the above a rate of one and one third fare for the roundtrip will be made. Tickets to be on sale April 25 and 26, good to return on or before April 27^th.  H. A. Culler

The special election held on Saturday last on the question of issuing bonds to the amount of $4,000, to be used in a system of waterworks resulted in a decided victory in favor of putting in the same.  The whole number of votes cast were 133 of which number 113 were "for" and 20 "against" bonds.  The vote was light on account of opposition manifested.

Mrs. Ida Greely died at her home in this village on Sunday morning last, aged thirty-six years. She leaves a husband and three small children, two girls and a boy.  The funeral occurred yesterday from the M. E. Church.
