Jacques, Henry (25 MAR 1872 - 31 MAY 1957)

 

Henry Jacques, aged 85 years and 2 months, who lived in the Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) vicinity for the past fifty-six years, passed away on Friday morning, May 31st, 1957 at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Quelle at Greenwood, where he had made his home the past three years.  Cause of death was old age infirmities.

 

He was born in the town of Port Washington, Ozaukee County, Wis. on March 25, 1872.  In February of 1898 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Gengler and they farmed in the town of Saukville until moving near Thorp in 1901 in the town of Reseburg, where he continued farming as his occupation.

 

His wife passed away in December of 1901.  Two children were born to this union, Rose, Mrs. George Kolbach of Port Washington (now deceased) and Joseph Jacques, who resides at Fredonia.

 

On June 2, 1903 he was married to Emma Pribbnow.  She passed away in January of 1938.  Their surviving sons and daughters are Arthur, Mary (Mrs. Roy Quelle), Ella (Mrs. Harold Hansen) and Alvin.  A son George passed away Oct. 1928, and also surviving are 35 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Joseph Gengler, and two brothers, math Jacques and John Jacques of Port Washington.  A daughter Ester, Mrs. Emmet Frese, passed away Feb. 1942.

 

On Monday, June 3rd, funeral services and Mass with Rev. Arnold Muckerheide officiating, were held at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church here at 9 o’clock, with burial in the parish cemetery.

 

Serving as pallbearers were six of his grandsons; Gerald Quelle of Greenwood, Roy Quelle of La Crosse, Alvin Quelle of Marshfield, Duane Jacque of Milwaukee, Donald Jacques of Milwaukee, and Henry Kolbach of Port Washington.

 

Relatives and friends from out of town attending the funeral were Mrs. Harold Hansen, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Quelle of Marshfield; Roy Quelle of La Crosse; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kolbach, Mr. and Mrs. George Kolbach, Mr. and Mrs. John Jacques, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Jacques and son, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Jacques, Mrs. Alex Klas and Mrs. Lawrence Feyereisen of Port Washington; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Jacques and family of Fredonia; Mrs. George Brabender of Cedar Grove; Duane Jacques, Donald Jacques, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Mondlock, Mrs. Norbert Lemanczyk, Mrs. Wandell Pulvermacher, Dorothy Kolbach, all of Milwaukee; Jacob Brown of Stanley; Mr. and Mrs. Tony Gengler of Abbotsford; Andrew Arndt of Colby; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Lammar, Mr. and Mrs. Nick Gengler, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Gengler and 3 children; Mrs. Joshine Wudi and Donald Gengler, all of Medford; Mr. and Mrs. Otto Kind Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Otto Kind Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Olson, all of Greenwood; Mrs. John Izewski of Chicago and Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Quelle of Withee; Mrs. R. J. Huff and Robert Mischal of Mandan, N.D.

Jacques Family Name. Henry J. Married into Gengler family around 1898. Daughter of Peter Gengler. Son of Peter, Joseph, my ggf, married Henry Jacques sister in 1904. Jim Gengler
