Geo. R. Brooks for Sheriff.

In this issue Geo.R. Brooks announces his candidacy for the office of sheriff on the Republican ticket, subject to the voters’ will at the September primary election. Mr. Brooks is not a stranger to the people of this county, having served one term in the office two years ago. The support of his friends is based on the fact that he has had such experience in the office as to make him at once more efficient than a beginner, and yet has not been so long as to make it a reason for nominating someone else. His friends urge that in other offices it is customary to give at least two terms, and while the law does not permit the sheriff to hold two terms in succession, it does permit a sheriff’s re-election after one term has intervened, and this has been done in this and many other counties as a matter of justice and much to the advantage of the county. It will be understood that Mr. Brooks and those friends who are speaking for him do not base his claim upon this alone, but urge that he performed well the duties of the office and can give assurance of future efficiency in the office. - Republican and Press, May 17, 1906

For County Treasurer.

I hereby announce myself a candidate for county treasurer on the Republican ticket subject to the action of the voters of Clark county at the September primary. - W S. Irvine.

For State Senator.

Upon the urgent request of many Republicans of this senatorial district I have decided to become a candidate for the Republican nomination for state senator in the 25th senatorial district, (Clark and Marathon counties), at the primaries to be held in the several precincts of the districts on Sept. 4, 1906.

I will appreciate such support as the Republicans of the district feel that they can conscientiously give me.

Neillsville, Wis., July 17, 1906. - Spencer M. Marsh

The Man For the Place.

Next Tuesday is the date of the Primary Election. Voters will have to decide then who they want for Register of Deeds. In order to refresh your mind on this point we refer again to Lester Tilton, of Neillsville. Many of our readers have met him in this campaign and know that he is running for the office in an honorable manner. He wishes it understood that he wanted to call on every voter personally, but business has prevented this in some instances. He therefore asks the voter to consider this a personal appeal. He wants your vote next Tuesday. He is qualified to discharge the duties of that office.

Mr. Tilton is of German parentage and is educated in that language. Although he has never held an office he has studied civil engineering and has a deal of experience in dealing with title and description of real estate and also making papers which have particularly fitted him for the office. His business transactions have been clean and upright and his record in all respects is good. Vote for him and you will make no mistake and neither will he.
