Hahn, Gordon Lyle (7 July 1929 - 10 June 1960)
Gordon Lyle Hahn, 30, of Illinois, formerly of Humbird, died Friday, June 10, at Hines, Ill. at the V. A. Hospital.
Gordon Hahn was born July 7, 1929, at Eau Claire. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert F. Hahn. He attended schools at Humbird, Fairchild and Neillsville High. He graduated in 1947. He attended River Falls State College, receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in 1951. He entered the service in September 1951. While stationed at Texas he got polio in 1952 and has since been in military hospitals.
He is survived by one sister, Dora, Mrs. Jake Blum of Janesville, and by one brother, Herbert R. Hahn, of Des Moines, Iowa.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at St. John’s Evangelical and Reformed Church at Humbird, with the Rev. Carl Serr, the Rev. Mitchel Whiterabbit, Military Melchor-Matti Post number 320 of Humbird, the American Legion and John A. Burchel, commander in charge of the service.
Burial was made in the Mentor Cemetery near Humbird.
Pallbearers were Clifford Walker, Walter Sheffer, Donald Zerbel, Arthur Laffe, Lyle Martin, and Louis Greub, members of the Legion. Marie Hefty, Ramona Duerkop, Emma Theiler, and Carl Serr sang.
Color Guards were Albert Flick and Melvin Markham. Color bearers were Archie Fredenburg and Harold Losey. The bugler was Don Denk. The firing squad was Charles Smith, Dean Schulz, Bernard Speth, Leo Esser, LeRoy Wagner, Rodger Staffon, Day Esser, and Gerold Walton.
Folks from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. Albert F. Hahn, of Maywood, Illinois; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Hahn and family of Des Moines, Iowa; Jake Blum of Janesville; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hayden and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Sliter of Merrillan; Mr. and Mrs. Will Spring of Monticello, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kurfluk, Albany; Mrs. Robert Thur and Mrs. Harold Thur, of Fairchild; Mrs. Fred Felder, Monroe; Mrs. Earl Zimmerman, Springfield, Illinois; and Mrs. Phil Haugstad, Black River Falls.
