Wojtkiewicz, Elizabeth (19 NOV 1876 - 19 JUL 1957)

Mrs. Elizabeth Wojtkiewicz, a resident of this community for 66 years, passed away at the Havenet Rest Home at Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) on Friday, July 19, 1957, death being caused by a cerebral hemorrhage.  She had reached the age of 80 years and 8 months.

Elizabeth Malinowski was born in Kovno, Lithuania on Nov. 19, 1876.  She came to the United States in 1891 and has made her home in Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) almost continuously since that time.

She was united in marriage to Ignatz Wojtkiewicz at Thorp on Feb. 12, 1896.  They operated a farm in the town of Withee for many years, Mr. Wojtkiewicz passing away in December 1932.  She was the mother of thirteen children, elven of whom are still living.  Two sons, Anthony and Henry, preceded her in death, also one brother, Anton Malinowski in April 1940.

Surviving are six sons, Joseph L., Edward and Frank Wojtkiewicz of Chicago, Michael Wojtkiewicz of Scottville, Mich., Louis and William Wojtkiewicz of Thopr; five daughters, Mrs. Charlotte Ferenc, Harvey, Ill., Mrs. Lillian Balcer and Mrs. Lucille Wiernasz, Thorp, Miss Harriet A. White, Chicago, Ill. and Mrs. Elizabeth Wojt of Bellingham, Wash., one brother, Ben Malinowski, Wausau, Wis., seventeen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for the deceased were held at St. Hedwig’s Church at 10:00 o’clock Monday morning, July 22, Father Francis Piekarski officiating, and interment following in the parish cemetery.  Pallbearers were Walter Juzwiak Jr., and five grandsons, David, Ronald Gerald, Theodore and Frank Wojtkiewicz Jr.

Relatives and friends from out of town who were here to attend the funeral of Mrs. Elizabeth Wojtkiewicz on Monday were Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Wojtkiewicz and son Gerald, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Wojtkiewicz and family, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wojtkiewicz, son Frank Jr. and daughter, Mrs. Wm. Hennessey, Harriet White, Mrs. Kate Niesponziani and Mrs. Frances Sikorski, all of Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas V. Feremc, Harvey, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Harry Staszak and children, Stevens Point, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. George Gunderson and Mrs. Marion Zimmerman and son, Fall Creek, Wis., Mrs. Lillian Statz and son, Chippewa Falls, Wis., and Mrs. Harriet Meyer, Elk Mound, Wis.
