Pine Valley (30 June 1960)
A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Klann of Houston, Tex., weighing eight pounds and five ounces, in a Houston hospital June 26. He has been named Carl Walter. His father is the son of Mr. and Mrs. August Klann.
Walter Klann, who taught last school year in a Lutheran School at Appleton, is attending summer school at Denton, Tex. He plans to enter Oklahoma State University in September on a one-year scholarship.
Mrs. August Klann returned Thursday from a week’s visit with her mother, Mrs. Ben Armstrong, in Blandinsville, Ill.
Nina Haugen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Haugen, returned home Sunday following a week’s visit with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Beede, in Eau Claire.
Pine Valley Homemakers, who are having a summer vacation, will take an auto tour in July to Chippewa Falls to visit the state camp for retarded children.
Plautz Brothers of Willard have acquired land formerly owned by Fred Wagner, south of the Moraine tower, and are opening a shale pit.
Dorothy Ackerman, who taught last year in a Lutheran School at New London, is spending the summer with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Ackerman.
