Matkovich, Donna May (Marriage - 9 July 1960)

Miss Donna May Matkovich, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Matkovich of Willard, and Donald M. Kirn, son of Martin Kirn and Mrs. John Betz of Willard, exchanged nuptial vows Saturday morning at 10 at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard.  The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. Aloysius Madic.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride approached an altar adorned with bouquets of white gladioli and blue carnations. She wore a regal gown with a chapel train of exquisite imported rosepoint lace and gossamer sheer tulle.  Her Sabrina neckline was embellished with iridescent sequins and pearls, set into a fitted Basque, with traditional wrist length, tapered sleeves.  The regal all-face skirt of scalloped lace tiers in front was framed by a hand-clipped lace redingote etched in sequins, sweeping into a scalloped chapel train. A wedding cake crown was a double tier of pearls, crystals and brilliants, from which flowed her veil of French imported silk illusion. She carried a crescent-shaped bouquet of a white orchid, surrounded by white tea roses and stephanotis.

Attending was Miss Kay Rauen, a cousin of Burlington as Maid of Honor.   Bridesmaids were Mrs. Betty Kotcon, cousin of the groom, of Willard; Miss Francis Koschak, a friend of the bride, of Greenwood; Miss Patti Dill of Chicago, Ill.; and Miss Donnie Bertrand of Detroit, Mich.  Their dresses were frosted sheer nylon in powder blue.  They were street length, and were trimmed with taffeta.  Their head pieces resembled the bride’s, with pearl drops and blush veils.

Nick Matkovich of Willard, a brother of the bride, was bestman.  Groomsmen were Kenneth Kirn, David Koschak, Victory Kotcon and Robert Herrick.  Michael Mitte was ringbearer.

Miss Mary Kaye Matkovich, was a miniature bride, and wore a dress identical to that of the bride with a matching crown and bouquet.

Miss Linda Tieman sang, "Ave Maria," "On This Day," and "Mother at They Feet is Kneeling."

A reception was held in the church hall, and there was a dance in the evening for about 300 guests.

The young couple will honeymoon at Washington, D. C., Kentucky, Tennessee and other southern and eastern states, after which they will make their home in Willard.

Guests from out of town were from Milwaukee, Burlington, Tomah, Waukegan, & Chicago, Illinois, and Detroit, Michigan.
