Dixon, Olive #2 (2 September 1881 - 13 July 1960)
Mrs. Olive Dixon, 78, of Greenwood died July 13, at Havenett Nursing Home in Owen, where she had been a resident for seven months. She had been a patient at the nursing home and the hospital in Neillsville prior to going to the Havenett Nursing Home.
Mrs. Dixon, nee Olive Rand, was born September 2, 1881, in Whitney, Ind. She was the daughter of Henry and Martha (Ditton) Rand. When she was nine years of age she came with her parents to Greenwood. She received her education here and was a member of the third class to be graduated from Greenwood High School, in 1900.
She taught school for many years and worked 10 years in the register of deeds office in Neillsville.
She was married to Ernest Dixon May 17, 1911, in Neillsville. After their marriage they lived for a short time in Granton and then moved to Neillsville.
In 1938 they began operating the Rand homestead, three miles north of Greenwood. Her husband died in March 1954.
She was a member of the Grace Methodist Church.
She is survived by a son, Donald Dixon of Greenwood; a sister, Mrs. Alta Devos of Neillsville; a brother, Paris Rand of El Dorado and a grandson, Paul Dixon of Greenwood.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from Grace Methodist Church. The Rev. Gene Carlson officiated. Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Fred Hohl, Walter Hohl, Fred Behrens, Lee Jollivette, Julius Hoehne and Adolph Wessel. Mrs. Donald Ellingson, accompanied by Charles Ivey on the organ, was the soloist.
People from away who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Paris Rand of El Dorado, Mr. and Mrs. Leland Forman of Milwaukee; Mrs. Alta Devos of Neillsville; and Maureen Ritter of Owen.
