Zipfel, Ruth (Marriage - 16 July 1960)

St. John’s Lutheran Church in Neillsville was the scene Saturday of the wedding of Miss Ruth Zipfel of Bay City, Mich., formerly of Neillsville, and Kenneth Maxson, also of Bay City.  The couple is the son and daughter of Mrs. Emma Zipfel of Neillsville and Mr. Frank Maxson of Bay City.  The Rev. G. Struck and Rev. Norman Lindloff were in charge of the ceremony.

Given in marriage by her uncle, Adolph Meyer, the bride approached the altar in an imported Chantilly lace over silk organza gown with a two-yard train.  Seed pearls were scattered on the bodice and around the Sabrina neckline. The bride wore the same headpiece that her mother had worn 35 years before at her wedding.  To it was attached a fingertip veil.

Patricia Kienbaum of Bay City was the maid of honor, and the bridesmaids were Patricia Burke and Nancy Wetters, both of Bay City. They wore blue floor-length gowns and carried baskets of white carnations.

Jack Thompson was the groom’s bestman, and Raymond Zipfel and Jack Wetters were groomsmen.

The music was furnished by G. R. Cudworth. A supper was held at St. John’s Lutheran School, and a reception was held at the bride’s home for about 100 guests. The house was decorated with red roses and daisies.

The young couple will honeymoon in the western states and after August 1 they will make their home in Bay City.

The bride is a graduate of Dr. Martin Luther College and Concordia College at River Forest, Ill.  She is a teacher.  The groom is a graduate of Bay City Schools and is a storekeeper for the Consumers Power Company at Bay City.
