Braatz, Henry A. (25 December 1877 - 19 July 1960)

 

Henry A. Braatz, 82, of Neillsville died at his home July 19 at 10:40 p.m.

 

Mr. Braatz was born December 25, 1877, in the Town of Grant.  He was educated there and as a young man did farm and carpenter work for 10 years.

 

On September 29, 1909, he was united in marriage to Edith Kurzrock in the Town of Grant Zion Lutheran Church.  They farmed for 36 years, and in 1945 they moved into Neillsville.  Surviving are his wife, and two children, Leonard of Milwaukee and Roberta Davis of Watertown.

 

Funeral services were held Friday at 2 p.m. from St. John’s Lutheran Church in Neillsville, with the Rev. Norman W. Lindloff officiating. 

 

Pallbearers were: Clarence, Irvin, Robert and Norman Braatz, Ray Kurth and Arnold Paepke.

 

Miss Janice Greeler and Mrs. Roger Tyler, accompanied by Victor Lehman on the organ, sang two hymns, "I’m but a Stranger here" and "What a Friend we have in Jesus."

 

People from out of town here for the service included: Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Braatz, Miss Virginia and Sharon Braatz, of Milwaukee; Roberta Davis of Watertown; Miss Ella Braatz of Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Treichler, Menomonee Falls, Rev. and Mrs. L. R. Westphal, Brandon; Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Riedel of Madison; Fred, Martin and Ben Kaddatz and Florence Koshelnick of Watertown; Robert Braatz, Beaver Dam; Mrs. Charles Weeks, Medford; Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Paepke, Burlington; Mr. and Mrs. Art Kurth, Plainfield.

 

People attending from Granton were: Mr. and Mrs. Victor Braatz, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Braatz, Clarence Braatz, Joanne Braatz, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Grassman, Elsie Grassman, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Beilke, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schuelke and Mrs. Wieford Miller.
