Scherer, Nancy (Marriage - 16 July 1960)
St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Milwaukee was the setting for the wedding July 16 of Miss Nancy Scherer and Erven Cankey.
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. George Scherer of Greenwood and William Sankey of Stevens Point.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a ballerina length gown of silk organza over taffeta in princess styling, with a scooped neckline outlined in lace. Her fingertip veil fell from a crown of pearls.
Mrs. Emil Podobnik of Milwaukee was matron of honor, and Miss Judy Martens, also of Milwaukee, was the bridesmaid. The groom’s daughter, Debra, was flowergirl.
The matron of honor and bridesmaid wore dresses similar to that of the bride. They were blue silk organza over taffeta. Small lace hats and lace gloves completed their ensembles.
The flowergirl wore a white dress fashioned after the bride’s, and carried a bouquet of blue carnations, as did the other attendants.
Emil Podobnik was bestman and Richard Scherer, groomsman. Ushers were Robert Armitage of Neillsville and Ralph Starr of Stevens Point.
Guests attended from Greenwood, Loyal, Neillsville, Marshfield, Stevens Point, Neenah, Milwaukee and Lena, Ill.
