Neillsville, Wisconsin Locals (28 July 1960)

 

The Rev. and Mrs. Robert Volkert and children of St. Paul, Minn., will visit his brother-in-law and sister, Dr. and Mrs. Robert D. Peters, next weekend.  The Rev. Mr. Volkert will deliver the sermon Sunday morning at the United Church of Christ.

 

The Rev. and Mrs. Eldon Daniels of Madison were supper guests Monday evening at the Rev. and Mrs. Virgil Holmes’ residence.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Howie Sturtz and older children are in Chicago for a few days.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Leland Hansen of Fremont, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Bremer and Mr. and Mrs. Romaine Rossow of Loyal camped at the Rossow cottage near Tripoli last weekend.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Gault entertained at dinner and supper Sunday in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gault and family, who are visiting here from California.  Other friends attending were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Brown and family, Mr. and Mrs. Harris Schoengarth and family, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Schoengarth, Mrs. Anna St. Clair, of Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Schoengarth and family, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Walker and family and Robert and Edith Schoengarth of Willard; Mrs. Alvina Gault of Greenwood; and Mrs. Gene Gault and family of Gary, Ind.  Following the evening meal, Robert showed slides he had taken while in Afghanistan, India, Hong Kong and Hawaii.  The Gault’s plan to leave Neillsville this weekend; on their return trip to California.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Art Johnson of Waukegan, Ill., are visiting Eva Wendt, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Wendt and Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Wendt.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Art Seagren of Bellwood, Ill., visited Mr. and Mrs. Charles Marek, Jr., last weekend.

 

Mrs. Ellen Palmer of Town of Levis, attending Eau Claire State College this summer, expects to complete requirements for graduation in August.  She is a candidate for a two-year elementary diploma.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Albert Sollberger visited his sister, Mrs. Leslie Sherman, in Merrillan Sunday, and stopped to visit Roy Iverson in Dewhurst on the way.

 

Barbara Braun of Manitowoc and Claire Braun of Ellsworth visited their uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Jess W. Scott, and the Harold Huckstead family in Grant Tuesday.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Bonney and son, Ken, of Neillsville, the Rev. and Mrs. Richard Bonney and Carolyn of Cascade, and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Bonney and children of Cameron spent last week on a trip into northern Wisconsin and along the north shore of Lake Superior.

 

Mrs. Betty Sims, Mrs. Franklin Reindel of York Center, and Sandra Reindel of Minneapolis are vacationing with relatives in Waukesha and Milwaukee.

 

Mr. and Mrs. John Cummings, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Stephans and Dean of Glenview, Ill., visited at the J. D. Cummings home here, and James Cummings, Jr. Home in Tomah last weekend.

 

Pres. Eugene W. Laurent of Taylor County Teachers College, Medford, left July 20 to attend the second summer session at the University of Colorado.  Mr. Laurent is a former Clark County Superintendent of Schools and a former resident of Thorp.

 

Marie Kronschnable, who has been employed for many years in the Farm Home Administration office at Medford, is assisting at the Neillsville office during the absence of Mrs. Virginia Gassen.  She is a former resident of Dorchester.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Jake Wallace of Lake Villa, Ill., visited several days last week with Mr. and Mrs. Walter Durst. The two families camped at the Wallace cottage at Minong.

 

Mrs. Anna Ruda of Chicago visited Mr. and Mrs. Frank Simek last week.  Her son, Dr. Joseph Ruda and family of Chicago, visited there during the weekend.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Vick of Columbus visited the Rev. and Mrs. Norman W. Lindloff Sunday.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Art Nagel of Colby, Mr. and Mrs. Gust Nagel of Sheboygan, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Winkel and Frank Plautz of Globe were dinner guests at the Herman Tesmer home Sunday.

 

The Rev. E. R. Sommerfeldt of Wisconsin Rapids visited at the Leonard Wachholz home Sunday.  He and Mr. Wachholz were neighbors several years ago in Westfield.
