David Graham Henchen was born Feb. 28, 1925, at home in the Town of Weston just north of Globe to Ewald and Imogene )Poirier) Henchen.  He attended the Globe School and farmed until the farm was sold.  He held various jobs in Neillsville and Milwaukee, including owning a grocery store with his brother, Louis, in Gotham.  In 1948, he was drafted into the United States Army and served with Occupational Forces in Japan and later with the Artillery Battalion in Korea during the Korean War.  When he returned from the war he attended Wisconsin State College in Stevens point, now known as the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, for a couple of years.  David then became a meteorologist for the National Weather Service and was stationed in Alaska for nearly 10 years, California, Illinois, Panama and Nevada. After his retirement he returned to Neillsville and devoted his time caring for the animals at the Clark County Humane Society.
