Washburn Township (15 September 1960)
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Hetzel and family of Chilton spent Labor Day weekend at the Harry Kissling home and called on several old neighbors.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Broetzmann and family and her mother, Mrs. Lind of Milwaukee, spent Labor Day weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hintz.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Waller of Janesville spent the weekend with her brother, Irving Stevens, and his wife. Mr. and Mrs. Stevens accompanied them home Sunday and will spend the week with the Wallers at Janesville. They will also visit their daughter, Mrs. Wallace Krause, and family in Milwaukee. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Wall are staying at the Stevens home during their absence and Boyd Plummer is assisting with the chores.
Mrs. Ernest Kuhn entertained the Birthday club last Thursday afternoon, with Mrs. George Allbaugh as assistant hostess. Mrs. George Gorbet, Mrs. Eugene Simmons, Mrs. Ed Short and Mrs. Alvina Odell were visitors. There were 12 members present. Bunco was the entertainment. It was followed by a lunch.
Leon Kapfer, daughter Jerri, and son Jack, and Mrs. Charlotte Glover and son of Janesville, spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kapfer.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Stewart and family and Mrs. Frank Stewart of Verona spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Short. On Saturday the Shorts accompanied the Stewarts on a trip to Ladysmith and Rice Lake. They had a picnic dinner at Millers Dam, near Gilman, and called on Mr. and Mrs. Chester Johnson in Thorp and Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Lyle in Rice Lake. The Stewarts returned home Sunday afternoon.
Mrs. Ernest Kissling and Miss Donna Kissling were Eau Claire visitors Friday.
