Swope, Betty M. (18 September 1925 - 19 December 2010)

 

Betty M. Swope, 85, of 501 Oak Street, Stanley formerly of Tunnel City, WI, passed away at her home on Sunday December 19, 2010, under the care of Saint Joseph’s Hospice, surrounded by family.

 

Betty was born September 18, 1925, in Stanley, WI.  She was the daughter of Dewey and Mary (Carmien) Krueger.  Betty was married on February 21, 1942, to Kenneth Leroy Swope, in Stanley.

 

She is survived by her children: Ronald (Cynthia) Swope of Stanley, Judie (Jim) Barry, of Cygnet, Ohio, Larry Swope of Menomonie, Linda Swope of Tomah, Gregory (Yvonne) Swope, of Exland, and Brent Swope of Ohio; 17 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and 33 great-great-grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, in 1997; her parents; one sister and brother-in-law, Mary (Donald) Miller; and one great-grandson.

 

Betty enjoyed the company of her children and many grandchildren, gardening - especially flowers, quilting, crocheting, fishing, and cheering the Packers on.

 

A memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 22, at Faith Evangelical Free Church at 705 N. Madison Street, Stanley, with the burial in the spring at Greenfield No. 2 Cemetery in Tunnel City.

 

Friends called from 10:00 a.m. to time of service at 11:00 a.m. at the church.

 

Betty will be greatly missed by family and friends.
