Rosemeyer, Eugene William (16 February 1927 - 21 December 2010)
Eugene William Rosemeyer, age 83, of the Town of Taft, passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Wissota Health Reflections, Chippewa Falls, WI. A Christian Burial Mass will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Gilman, WI with Fr. John Long officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends and family may call on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Gilman Funeral Home with a 7:30 prayer service.
Eugene was born February 16, 1927 in the Town of Taft, the son of the late Raymond & Ida (Budden) Rosemeyer. He grew up in the area and attended area schools, graduating from Gilman High School. On June 16, 1955 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Thompson at S. Ann’s Catholic Church, Stanley. The couple resided in the Town of Taft, raising their family and farming. Gene also drove grader for the Town of Taft for several years and enjoyed woodworking and would attempt to fix anything. In his spare time he loved watching ball games.
Eugene is survived by his wife Dorothy of Thorp, WI; and children, Dean (Ann) of Eau Claire, WI; Jeff (Jean) of Dorchester, WI; Jay (Lynn) of Gilman, WI; Patrick (Teri) of Thorp, WI; Becky (Mike) Newby of Eau Claire, WI; Robin (Cheryl) of Gilman, WI; and Rodney (Tracy) of Durand, WI, 18 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and siblings, Robert (Myrtle) Rosemeyer of Round Lake, IL; Sr. Rebecca Rosemeyer of Dubuque, IA; Justin Rosemeyer of Thorp, WI; and Marcelle (Jim) Podvin of Waupun, WI.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Norma Gamrath and brothers, Raymond "Bud" and Charles Rosemeyer.
