Hecht, Shirley (Marriage - 28 August 1960)

Baskets of lavender and white gladioli tied with white satin bows, two bouquets of lavender and white asters and two, seven branched candelabra graced the altar of Frieden’s United Church of Christ for the wedding of Shirley Marcele Hecht, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hecht, of Du Bois, Nebr., and William W. Sisson, son of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Sisson of Greenwood, Wis., on Sunday, August 28, 2:30 p.m.  The double ring ceremony was performed by Rev. Bryce A. Hecht, of Zeeland, N. D., brother of the bride, assisted by Rev. A. F. Werner of Bern, Kans., in the presence of 109 guests.

Mrs. David Rinne, organist, played the traditional processional and recessional wedding marches and accompanied Mr. David Rinne, who sang, "Wedding Prayer," and "O Perfect Love," as the couple knelt at the altar, and "The Lord’s Prayer."  The candle lighters were Sharon Bredemeier and Larry Boehmer.  Sharon wore a Nile green formal, organza over taffeta; Larry, a grey business suit.

The bride was given in marriage by her father, wore a floor-length gown of organza and Chantilly lace over taffeta of traditional white, organza bodice fitted with T-straps and cummerbund, lace Eton jacket with three-quarter-length sleeves, Peter Pan collar and buttoned down the back; bouffant skirt with alternating ruffles of organza and lace.  The veil was elbow-length, bridal tulle attached to a lace clip hat, trimmed with sequins and pearls.  She wore twin pearl earrings and necklace of three-strand pearls, gift of the groom.  Her bouquet was a lavender orchid and shower, made of satin streamers over a white Bible.

Attending the bride were Miss Janet Thompson, Neillsville, Wis., maid of honor, wearing a ballerina-length, blue organza over taffeta dress, matching headpiece and gloves, shag clip with nose veil; Mrs. Bryce Hecht, sister-in-law of the bride, and Mrs. Glenn Sisson, sister-in-law of the groom, as bride’s matron, wearing ballerina-length pale pink net over taffeta, with matching bands of flowers for headpiece and matching nylon mitts.  The flower girl was Linda Sisson, niece of the groom.  She wore white organza over yellow taffeta and carried a lace basket with pink petals.  Ring bearer was Larry Sisson, nephew of the groom, wearing a light sport jacket and dark trousers with white carnation for boutonniere.

Glenn Sisson, brother of the groom, West Wallis, Wis., served as bestman.  Gayle Hecht, Du Bois, Nebr., brother of the bride and Donald Fischer, Auburn, Nebr., cousin of the bride, were the ushers.  All men of the wedding party wore dark business suits with white carnation boutonnieres.

The bride’s mother wore navy blue linen lace dress, carnation corsage and black hat with white trim.

A reception was held in the church basement immediately following the ceremony.  A four-tier wedding cake decorated with bells and doves and miniature bride and groom, was made by Mrs. Jerry Bauman, of Centralia, Kans.  Mrs. Floyd Boehmer, Denver, Colo., aunt of the bride, cut the cake.  The following were friends of the bride: Mrs. Bill Ulmer, Weeping Water, Nebr., Mrs. Charles Kaster, Lincoln, Nebr., Miss Janice Korber, Bern, Kans., Mrs. Willard Rogers, Pawnee City, Nebr., Mrs. Frank Huerter, Seneca, Kans., all served as dining room hostesses.  Mrs. Victor Hecht, Auburn, Nebr., aunt of the bride, served punch; Mrs. Don Fischer, cousin of the bride, in charge of guest book; Mrs. Clifford Boehmer, Du Bois, Nebr., aunt of the bride, and Mrs. Fred Bredemeier, Du Bois, Nebr., gift table.  The couple made a short trip to the Lake of the Ozarks.

The bride is a graduate of DuBois High School and one year college which she majored in musical education, at Lindsborg, Kans., after which she became employed at the Winnebago Children’s home in Neillsville, Wis., for seven years as assistant cook, girls and boys governess, and had one year at the Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis, Minn., in 1955-56.

The groom is a graduate of Greenwood High School, served with the army in Europe, graduated from the Agriculture short course at the University of Wisconsin, after which he became employed in dairy farming in partnership with his father.  The couple is at home on the farm near Greenwood, Wis.
