Ehlert, Joy (9 NOV 1957)

St. Luke’s Lutheran Church was the scene of the marriage of Miss Joy Ehlert, daughter of Mrs. Emil W. Ehlert and the late Mr. Emil W. Ehlert, formerly resident here (Thorp, Clark Co., Wis.), but now of Wis. Rapids, and Leonard Siekert, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Siekert, Route 1, Pittsville.  The ceremony was performed by the Rev. L. F. Schneider at 3 o’clock p.m., Saturday, Nov. 9th, 1957.

Mr. DeForest Kertsen was organist and the bride’s mother sang, "Bless Us Oh Lord" and "The Lord’s Prayer."

The bride wore a floor length gown of brocaded taffeta, the bodice featuring a boat neckline, with three-quarter length sleeves.  A cummerbund effect waistband held the four-tiered, ruffled skirt, and a pleated brocaded headband with seed pearls held her illusion veil.  She carried a cascade bouquet of red roses encircled by white mums.

Mrs. Frank Trachte, Route 1, Arpin, was the bride’s matron of honor, and Janet Siekert, sister of the groom, was bridesmaid.  They wore identical dresses of light blue taffeta brocade, the bodices being similar to those of the bride’s, and floating skirts.  They carried cascade bouquets of yellow mums.

The groom’s attendants were Mr. Ingvar Arneson Jr., best man, and a brother of the bride, David Ehlert, groomsman.  The bride’s brother, Emil W. Ehlert Jr., and a cousin, Gerald Wendt, ushered.

A reception and dinner followed at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church parlors with 200 guests attending.  The four-tiered wedding cake was made by the bride’s grandmother, Mrs. Charles Wendt, who resides here.

The bride graduated from Lincoln High School and Augustana Nursery School, Chicago, and has been employed at the office of Drs. Nelson and Schaller.  The groom graduated from Pittsville High School and is presently employed at Preway Inc.

After returning from their wedding trip on Nov. 17th, they will reside at 711 ½ 3rd St. South.
