Sapetta, Anton (13 OCT 1875 - 24 NOV 1957)
Last rites were conducted by Father Francis Piekarski at St. Hedwig’s Church here at 10:00 o’clock on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 1957, for Anton E. Sapetta, 82, who passed away at the hospital at Medford on Nov. 24th, 1957, death following soon after the car accident in which he was injured.
Mr. Sapetta, a respected citizen of the city of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) for the past eleven years, was a retired lumberman but still active to some extent in that field. He was born in Poland on Oct. 13, 1875 and came to the United States 61 years ago. He resided for periods of time in Pennsylvania, Phillips, Wis., and Redville, Wis., before coming to Thorp 11 years ago. He was united in marriage to Helen Lasota at St. Hedwig’s Church in Thorp on April 27, 1910.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Marie Sapetta Biedness of Chicago and Mrs. Irene Hines of Wausau, and one granddaughter, Phyllis Biedness; two brothers, Edward Sapetta of Lublin, Wis., and Felix Sapetta of Eau Claire, Wis. One brother, Adam, preceded him in death.
Interment took place in St. Hedwig’s Parish Cemetery. Pallbearers were, John Bogumill, Louis Gruszynski, Joseph Tobola, John Balcer, Casey Kubiszewski, and Tom Polnaszek.
Persons from out of town here to attend the funeral of Mr. Sapetta on Wednesday, Nov. 27th were: Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Chute, Plymouth, Mich., Lila, Charmaine and Kenneth Biedness and Mr. and Mrs. A. Biedness and daughter of Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hines, Wausau, Wis., Mr. H. Cass, Mrs. Grace Hines and Roy Carroll of Madison, Wis., Mrs. Ann Boguski, Green Bay, and other friends and relatives from Medford, Owen, Withee, Greenwood, Redville, Thorp, Lublin and Stanley.
