Zukowski, Max S. (? - 19 NOV 1957)
Word has been received from Chicago of the death on Nov. 19, 1957 of Max S. Zukowski, a resident of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) n 1910.
Most of his life he resided in Chicago, where he was proprietor of a barber and beauty shop for over 25 years. He was a member of the Masters Baber Association. He was also a member of the Polish National Alliance for the past 40 years.
He married Mary Surtalski in 1912, who was the daughter of the late Frank and Bernice Surtalski, pioneers of Thorp. The marriage took place in St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Thorp. In June of this year, they celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary.
Left to mourn him are his widow, Mary, and children, one son, Edwin and wife Helen of Crystal Lake, Ill., daughter Alice Kautorowicz and husband Ted of Park Ridge, Ill., daughter Helen Vesley and husband William of Highland Park, daughter, Elaine Zack and husband Justin of Tacoma, Wash., and nine grandchildren: Judith, Barbara, Todd, Kenneth, Marcia, Thomas, Carol, Robert and Anita.
Solemn High Mass was offered at St. Viators Catholic Church and burial took place at St. Adalbert’s Cemetery in Chicago.
